Alleghany County Rotary
Club
The Rotary Club of Alleghany was chartered
July 1, 2004. During our first eighteen months, we had three
fund raising projects. During the summers of 2004, 2005 and 2006,
we sold raffle tickets on three lawn mowers. We made and sold
Brunswick stew at the fall 2005 and 2006 Heritage Festivals.
In addition to our monthly donations
of food, we have had five service projects collecting food for
the Solid Rock Food Ministry. Christmas
presents have been bought and delivered to six families. A total
of $1,000 was contributed to help build a special room for a
boy with Cerebral Palsy.
Some $3,000 has been donated to
the Alleghany County Education Foundation. Three donations of
$600 each have been given to the New Century Scholars. Other
donations include $1,000 donation to the Alleghany Library Building
Fund, $1,000 donation to the Alleghany County 4-H Club for 2
summer campers, $500 donation to the Alleghany Social Services
to help children taken out of homes involving "meth" labs, $500 to
the International Seeds Program; $1,000 to Carolina Cross Connections,
$700 to Rotary International, $900 to the Shelter Box Program,
and $1,000 to Wilkes/Alleghany Red Cross.
We sponsor quarterly citizenship
awards to three Alleghany High School students, presenting each
with a savings bond.
Four Way Test
of the things we think, say or do
Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
