 We are planning for Saturday, September 27, 2008, to be the best ever Mountain Heritage Festival in our corner of the Blue Ridge Mountains and hope you will consider participating. Sparta, North Carolina, is our small town in the heart of the Blue Ridge and on this day we celebrate mountain music, crafts, heritage and the joys of mountain life. We close off Main Street so that craft and food vendors, demonstrators and entertainers can spread out from the County Courthouse and welcome folk from near and far. We are working hard to make this a great one-day festival for vendor and visitor alike. We seek vendors who provide handmade arts and crafts for sale or offer food items for festival-goers. You can download an application (Adobe Reader required) that will answer questions about our festival. Print a copy, complete and mail to reserve your space. Food vendors are subject to new NC inspection requirements and fee payment to the local Health Department. Some non-profits and vendors of particular foods may be exempt. Download an application (Adobe Reader required) and read it carefully. We need them returned to us (along with a check to cover the inspection fee) by Sept. 8, 2008, to permit timely submission to the Health Department. EVERY FOOD VENDOR MUST COMPLETE AT LEAST THE FIRST PAGE, if only to qualify for the exemption. Food vendors, it is always wise to make your application early. We accept applications on a first-come, first-accepted basis and reserve the right to refuse an application if it unduly duplicates food items that are being sold by vendors that have already been accepted. Returning food vendors, you will notice the location of the South Food Court has been moved to what was the entertainment area. I believe this location will serve food vendors better and creates a better area for the south stage. No electricity is available at that location.
