Visit to one of these mountain Christmas tree farms to choose the tree to be your holiday centerpieve. Farm personnel are here to cut your tree, bail it for travel and help secure it to your vehicle. A trip up the Blue Ridge Mountains to Alleghany County and Sparta, North Carolina, is a great way to get in the Christmas spirit. This is an activity the entire family will enjoy and the pastoral countryside and the quaint town of Sparta only add to your holiday spirit. Plus you get the fresh-cut advantage with your tree.

When you arrive at home, cut approximately an inch off the tree bottom and keep your tree stand watered. Your tree will stay fresh and green for two or more months. A store-bought tree is harvested in the fall. By the time of your purchase it has spent weeks, maybe months, without water.

Check the Calendar for more activities to enjoy during your visit and look over the Festivals & Activities and plan a special visit next year.
