CATCH THE SPIRIT OF THE SEASON at the Christmas Arts and Craft Fair in Sparta, North Carolina, in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This indoor juried craft event always occurs the first Saturday in December at the height of the Choose and Cut Christmas Tree season. Whether you are looking for that special, fresh cut tree right in its mountain field or are searching for the perfect holiday gift, Sparta and the Christmas Arts and Craft Fair is a must visit.
The Fair is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Shop the various vendors of handmade items in indoor comfort. Food is available throughout the day. Sparta is located on US 21 just 28 miles up the mountain from I-77 (exit 83 northbound traffic, exit 85 southbound traffic). The Fair is held in the Emerson Black Exhibition Building at the County Fairgrounds, 1.5 miles north of Sparta on US 21 at its intersection with Bledsoe Creek Road.
This is the height of the Choose and Cut season where families stream up the mountain to choose the freshest holiday tree right from the field. Over a dozen farms are open to cut, bale and secure that special tree to your vehicle. Santa visits, special offerings by area merchants and small-town charm greet visitors.
Visitors are encouraged to drop by the Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center for details on all activities. Check the Visitors’ Center calendar for a list of activities.
The Fair is presented by the Alleghany Arts and Craft Cooperative, 36 North Main Street, Sparta. Be sure to visit for more special creations.
